Weekly Update 06/22/18

Wilshire/La Cienega Station

Major street closures scheduled June 23-29.

The following closures are planned for Saturday, June 23. Only local access for residents and entrance to businesses will be maintained:

  • Eastbound Wilshire Boulevard will be closed from Robertson to La Cienega Boulevard from 6 am to 10 pm. See the map below for detours.
  • South Le Doux and Stanley will be closed at Wilshire Boulevard. Flaggers will be present to assist with access to driveways and businesses.
  • From 8 am to 3 pm there will be short term closures on N. Gale Drive, S. Gale Drive, and Wilshire between Gale Drive and Tower Drive to install traffic monitoring devices.


Weekday closures include the following: 

  • Eastbound Wilshire Boulevard will be reduced to one lane from Hamel to La Cienega from 9 am to 3:30 pm.*
  • North Gale Drive will be closed from 7 am to 4 pm.* South Gale Drive and Tower Drive may be closed intermittently for traffic signal work. These closures will be for short durations during off-peak hours.* 

Please use alternative routes and continue to respect construction barriers and detours for your safety.

Wilshire/Rodeo Station

Soil sampling work continues. Utility relocation work on hold pending City approval.

Work to sample soil and examine the geology of the area will continue on Wilshire Boulevard Monday through Friday 9 am to 4 pm and 8 pm to 6 am.* Work in the area is expected to last through the end of July.* During work hours one lane on eastbound Wilshire Boulevard will be closed from Roxbury Drive to N. Camden Drive.

Preparation for the next stage of utility relocation work on Wilshire Boulevard is on hold pending City approval. Once approved, this work will take place on weekdays and includes:

  • Traffic signal installation
  • Marking the new striping layout (work hours: 8 pm to 6 am)*
  • Removing existing striping (work hours: 9 am to 4 pm)*
  • Marking and re-striping Wilshire between Beverly and Crescent (work hours: 8 am to 6 am)*

*Due to the dynamic nature of construction the schedule and activities may vary.

The Purple Line Extension will provide a transportation alternative to the congested Westside, including two stops in Beverly Hills: Wilshire/ La Cienega and Wilshire/ Rodeo.

The project is scheduled to be built in three sections.  The first section of the Purple Line Extension will extend the subway from the Wilshire/ Western station in Los Angeles to Wilshire/La Cienega in Beverly Hills.  Section 2 extends from the Wilshire/ La Cienega station to the Wilshire/ Rodeo station and then on to the Century City / Constellation station.
